I am building a Ulua sailing canoe designed by Gary Dierking.  Gary's multihull experience goes back to the 1960s and he is currently designing, building, sailing and paddling outrigger sailing canoes in New Zealand.  The photo above is the completed boat by another builder (maybe Gary, not sure).  My version will be extended to 22 feet.

The first step in the building the Ulua sailing canoe is to construct a sturdy strongback.  This one was made using 3/4 inch plywood.  The cleats for the mold stations are also installed.

The next step in building the Ulua sailing canoe is to cut out the full size mold station patterns from the plans provided by Gary Dierking and glue them onto 1/2 inch plywood.

Then all these mold stations are cutout.

I now have all the mold stations set for the Ulua.  I have extended the original 18-foot design to 22 feet.  The next step is to build the laminated bow and stern stems.
